This safari covers some of Kenya’s best attractions, giving you firsthand experience with the country’s majestic flora and fauna. You will visit Aberdares, Samburu and Masai Mara Nationals Parks. Your safari will end on a visit to a museum to see artifacts and learn about the local culture.

Nairobi

Today is your travel day to Kenya. You will most likely take an an international flight with several stopovers. Most flights to Kenya include meals, drink and entertainment. If you arrive before your safari is scheduled to begin, you will stay at the Six Eighty budget hotel, however we can get you a hotel of your preference.

Day 2

Nairobi – Aberdare National Park

You will arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the early morning or late evening. You will met and greeting by an English speaking driver-guide, who will escort you to your safari vehicle and provide you with water. Your tour vehicle will drive you north of Nairobi to the beautiful highlands of the Aberdare forest. On your way you will make a short stop at a coffee and tea plantation.

Later you will go on a game drive through the forest, where you will see elephants, buffaloes and other distinct animals in the dense vegetation or open glades in the forest. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at The Ark treetop hotel.

Day 3

Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast your safari continue north to Samburu National Reserve. After a vigorous time in the highlands it is now time to experience the dry and beautiful landscape of Samburu. You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch, which is ideally located to let you take in the dazzling views of the reserve’s scenery.

The area you are in now is noticeably warmer than it was in Aberdare. Many veteran travelers consider this the “real” Africa, where the great variety of animal species allows for incredible photography opportunities.

After lunch you will go on a game drive to see some rare animals, including the narrow striped gravy zebra, the beautiful reticulated giraffe and the Somali ostrich. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the Samburu Sopa.

Day 4

Samburu National Reserve

You will explore the landscape and wildlife in Samburu on today’s safari runs. You can either go on early morning and afternoon game drives or go on a “full-day” game drive, stopping for a picnic lunch at midday. During your game drives you will see lions, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, leopards and many other animals. Your dinner and overnight will be at the Samburu Sopa.

Day 5

Lake Naivasha

After breakfast you will drive north through the lush highlands on your way to the beautiful Lake Naivasha. You will stop at Thomson’s Falls en route and enjoy a hot lunch at the Thomson’s Falls Lodge.

Lake Naivasha is often visited by giraffes, antelopes, zebras and water bucks that come to graze. Hippos also come on land during the evening. Since the hippos often make their way right up to the rooms and grasses, you are not allowed to go out during the night without a guard.

Included during your stay is a boat ride on the lake, where you will get close to hippos and go on a hike of Crescent Island. On the island you can see giraffes, zebras, antelopes, gazelles and a wide variety bird life. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge.

Day 6

Masai Mara National Reserve

After an early breakfast you will make your way to the famous Masai Mara. The trip features a varied topography and gives you a new and excellent impression of the Savannah portion of Kenya’s landscape.

The shift from the lush fields of the Great Rift Valley to the often somewhat drier Savannah area is marked. The bustling and dusty “capital” of Narok immediately signals that you are in Masai country. Tribal people are frequently seen along the road with their cattle and goats.

You can expect to arrive in the Mara area by midday. You will eat packed lunches from the Sopa and then spend the rest of the afternoon on a game drive en route to the cozy and charming Ol Moran Tented Camp (or similar).

Day 7

Masai Mara National Reserve

In the early morning, when the light coolness still prevails, you will seek out unforgettable experiences among Africa’s famed “Big Five” on a game drive.

During your stay in the Maasai Mara you may also arrange an optional visit to a local village. You will be invited inside the village and warmly welcomed by the young men dancing and village women dancing. You will have the opportunity to tour some cabins and to buy a souvenir to take home. This is a a powerful experience that will stay in your memory long after you return home.

Alternatively, you can participate in the sublime experience of an early morning balloon safari. Take in the beautiful sunrise and see all of Africa from above, followed by a cozy breakfast served on the savannah (cost not included). We recommend that you book the balloon ride from home, since there are only a limited number of seats. Your overnight stay will be at the Ol Moran Tented Camp.

Day 8

Masai Mara – Nairobi

After an amazing several days of unforgettable nature experiences, you will make your way back to Nairobi. You will eat a picnic lunch on the way before visiting Karen Blixen’s Farm (museum). In the evening you will fly back home.

You may also opt to extend your trip to the beaches of Mombasa, Zanzibar or the Seychelles. You might even want to spend more time on safari in Tanzania or experience the gorillas in Uganda or Rwanda. The possibilities are endless! Please contact us for a quote and more information.
